Agricultural Inspection
*Strict federal regulations exist regarding plants and agricultural
products leaving Hawaii .
* Intended to prohibit export of plant diseases and insects.
*Only checked baggage is inspected here. Carry on bags will be inspected at security.
* VEGTABLES AND FRUIT: Some items may pass,
but odds are most will not.
*CUT FLOWERS: Flowers are OK that bugs can be easily discovered ? i.e orchid stems and Anthuriums. Flowers that insects can hide in easily such as Birds of Paradise and ginger may be rejected.
* If the inspector finds insects in just one type of flower, they may reject all the others.
* Treating the flowers with bug spray beforehand will NOT make any difference.

POTTED PLANTS: Plants with soil will not be accepted. Soil will not be accepted.
Roots / Bulbs usually will not be accepted.
* Pre-inspected plants from federally approved growers and retailers. These are marked safe on the sealed packaging. If the package is opened by you after purchase, and resealed ? it may be rejected.
