Laupahoehoe Point Park

* Ocean Park is about 1.2 miles down from the highway.
* Nice scenic drive down from the Hwy. 
* Park pavilion and picnic area with drinking water, restrooms.
* Swimming is discouraged as the water is usually very rough.
* Watch the fishermen launch at the public boat ramp. 
* Weekdays are usually quiet and uncrowded.
* Great for a picnic lunch and a book.
* Site of the 1946 tidal wave that destroyed the fishing village near shore. Over 150  lives were lost, including over 20 in the small school house near shore.
