  • Two of the world's most active volcanoes.
  • Kilauea Visitor Center is open daily from 7:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Jaggar Museum is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Jaggar Museum Bookstore is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Park admission is $10 per vehicle (good for 7 days)

Please Note: Lava viewing conditions change daily, there are no guarantees of viewing lava. In addition, portions of the Park are closed. Please call (808) 985-6000 for the latest information.

Plan Your Visit

  • Drive the summit of Kilauea volcano around the 11 mile crater rim drive ? 1 to 3 hour trip. Includes scenic stops and easy short walks.
  • Chain of craters drive - 3 to 5 hour trip is a 20 mile road from the park headquarters down over 3500 foot in elevation to the coast.
  • Lava flow activity is always changing in this area.
  • Park Visitor Center will update you on the most current information.
  • Gas, food & water are NOT available along the Chain of Craters Road.
  • Restrooms at the end of the road , however, best to use restrooms at the visitor center.
  • Many day hikes available.
  • Can be cold and windy on the crater. Shorts might be OK , but have a light jacket or sweatshirt in the car just in case.
